64 duties, functions and powers of the Malawi Posts Corporation Cap. 44:05 Board of the Malawi Posts Corporation Communications No. 34 139.__(1) The Malawi Posts Corporation shall have the following duties and functions__ (a) to provide postal services and to perform other services incidental to transmission of postal articles; (b) to establish and operate post offices; and (c) subject to the Financial Services Act, to provide financial services. (2) In the exercise of its duties and functions conferred under this Act, the Malawi Posts Corporation shall have power to__ (a) enter into contracts; (b) construct, acquire, maintain and repair buildings and premises and carry out works; (c) acquire, manufacture, maintain and repair equipment and facilities; (d) levy rates and charges for any service performed by the Corporation or for the use by any entity of the premises, equipment or facilities provided by the Corporation; and (e) represent Malawi in matters relating to the Universal Postal Union, the Pan-African Postal Union and such other international organizations as the Minister may decide. 140.__(1) The Board of the Malawi Posts Corporation shall consist of __ (a) four members, appointed by the President and confirmed by the Public Appointment Committee of Parliament; (b) the following ex-officio members__ (i) the Principal Secretary responsible for postal service, or his representative; (ii) the Secretary to the Treasury or his representative; and (iii) the Comptroller of Statutory Corporations, or his representative. (2) In appointing members of the Board of the Malawi Posts Corporation under subsection (1), the President shall have regard to gender equality and the need for continuity of service on the Board of Malawi Posts Corporation. (3) A person to be appointed as a member of the Board of the Malawi Posts Corporation shall__ (a) be a citizen of, and resident in, Malawi; (b) possess qualifications, expertise and experience in any of
