2.9 Media cover the full spectrum of economic, cultural, political, social, national and local perspectives and
conduct investigative stories.
The media cater insufficiently for investigative journalism. Newsrooms lack the
necessary organization for their staff to specialize. Bénin Business 24, the second
television channel created by the ORTB in 2014, is cited as having succeeded
in considerably diversifying its magazine programmes in the fields of economy,
culture, politics, etc. In general, the media allocate a large part of their coverage
to political subjects.
At La Nation, the Government daily, which seems to have the most resources at
its disposal, reports and features processed and covered in the field are sometimes
published, but, as one panellist pointed out, mission expenses are high for
inquiries and editorial genres of this kind.

2.10 Private broadcasters deliver a minimum of quality
public interest programmes.
Some private television stations have a better following than the public channel.
Private broadcasting bouquets exist in the country. Their programmes are watched
but are most often mediocre and ought to be improved.
