Cameroon’s state broadcaster offers a wide range of programming, covering topics such as politics, sports, economics, culture, religion, and entertainment. By so doing, the broadcaster attempts to respond to the needs of various segments of the population. Panellists indicated that there is a deliberate effort in this regard, with tangible results to show for it. The state broadcaster in Cameroon is widely considered to be biased in its news and current affairs reporting and programming. Newscasts are grossly dominated by government and ruling party event. Even though special slots have been created and distributed to political parties, these slots are often limited to a paltry three to four minutes a week for some opposition parties. State media journalists say they have been instructed not to cover certain political leaders and activists such as presidential aspirant Kah Walla, party leader Anicet Ekanne and activist Mboa Massock.
