The media covers all events and subjects including
economy, culture, local information and investigations.

ANALYSIS:
All issues are reported but the coverage of the local rural information is very weak because of lack of human and financial resources.
Some local information is reported only when journalists are allowed
to go into such areas. Advertising takes most of the space despite
the principle of article 34 of Law 29, which stipulates the principle
of having 65% of space reserved to information in order to access
the press aid or subsidy. The editors explain this situation by saying
that there is a lean period but when there is a very good period they
must take advantage and overcome previous losses. The national
radio has regional correspondents who cover events in the regions.
There is very little investigative reporting due to the difficulty in
accessing official information especially in the economic area.

The gender integration is promoted in terms of equal
participation of the two sexes in the production process.

ANALYSIS:
The gender integration in the production process is very weak. This
is explained by the fact that female journalists are few in the news
desks and offices; but above all they prefer to work in organizations
that pay better.
In the private media, there is a total of four women in positions of
chief editors; three have left their jobs to move to national instiThe African Media Barometer (AMB) - Chad 2007
