3.1 (2013 = 3.8; 2010 = 3.3)

4.8 Equal opportunities regardless of race or ethnicity,
social group, gender/sex, religion, disabilities and age
are promoted in media houses.
In Togo, very few women are nominated to responsible positions in the media.
Generally speaking, women in the media do not deal with topics with which they
are not at ease, and therefore do not have much visibility.
In private media, there is only one female chief editor. The only female chief editor
in public media is about to retire.
Media frequently operates according to ethnic affinities, but this does not mean
that Togo is a country with ethnic problems.
Society as a whole does not look upon disabled people with favour. And this has
repercussions on the media.
