There are today about 20 community radio stations in Madagascar. They are still waiting for the special promotion government promised them. The announcement made by the Director General of ORTM, then Minister of Communication, to provide the radio community station Magneva with a transmitter, has never materialised. In fact, this type of radio is not covered under the law on communication of September 1992, albeit the fact that the directorate of the Ministry of Communication twice a year offers community radio stations training in the areas of maternal and infant health, in addition to the material offered thanks to UNICEF funding every year.
