Journalists and editors do not practice self-censorship.

ANALYSIS:
Journalists as well as editors practice self-censorship where information has not been
reconfirmed or if they fear reprisals. Under pressure or in order to conform to the
editorial line of their media organisation, they sometimes bypass or leave out
information. They often have regard commercial interests and, either willingly or not,
sometimes take sides in the name of solidarity with clan, family, religion and the like.
This may be regarded as a withholding of information that prejudices the “consumer”,
i.e. the readers and listeners who are totally unaware of this bias, and thus constitute
an infringement of the code of conduct.
