First Quarter
 On 19th March, 2018, Radio Mano management was summoned by the police in
Kasama over a post made by one of its Fun Club members on the „Radio Mano Fun
Club‟ Facebook page.
 14th April the Mast reported that police in Mansa picked up Chishimba Kambwili from
KFM radio during an on air program.
Second Quarter
 3rd June the Mast reported that Police in Lusaka had written to Prime Television to
release footage in which Fresher Siwale allegedly defamed President Edgar Lungu.
 2nd July, ZICTA was directed to shut down Facebook accounts which “cyber
criminals” were using to defraud people. At least 627 fake Facebook accounts were
closed mostly linked to ministers and the President.
Third Quarter
 Times of Zambia, on 23rd August, government announced that about 200 Facebook
pages were blocked.
Fourth Quarter
 IBA in October was told to stop riots, following comments that ZAFFICO was sold to
the Chinese.
 16th October, Zambia was listed among countries with a spyware software for phones
sold to government. The software is used to spy phone conversation of selected people
by government.
 ZICTA shut down more than 100 „fake‟ Facebook pages, reported 11th October.
