are organised in trade unions and/or professional
associations, which effectively represent their
interests.
Generally, journalists and other media practitioners are organised in professional
associations and trade unions. he National Union of Journalists (Sindicato
Nacional de Jornalistas – SNJ) founded in 1978, MISA Mozambique, the
Association of Women Journalists, and the Association of Sport Journalists are
some examples. Many journalists are members of these organisations, though it
is recognised that greater integration within the profession, particularly among
younger professionals is necessary to encourage more active participation in these
organisations. his is particularly true for SNJ.
