Results from the studies conducted by the monitoring unit of the INCIPALS project confirm a good equilibrium between male and female news presenters in both television and radio. Female journalists handle every kind of topic without any discrimination and can attain management positions as well as leading a team. However, one notices that they are often younger than their male colleagues are. On the other hand, the Youth Observatory finds that there is a tendency that the average age of people in the media industry is decreasing. They estimate that 60% of the workforce in the sector is under the age of 35. Some specialised magazines use age as one of their employment criteria, estimating that it is important that the latter have a certain degree of experience and intellectual background in order to respond adequately to the demands of their readership. Press organisations promote the recruitment of people with disabilities. L’Express de Madagascar never hesitates to employ disabled persons and treats them like any other employee. Ethnic and religious minorities are represented in both the public and private media. 104 AFRICAN MEDIA BAROMETER MADAGASCAR 2016
