4.6 Journalists and editors do not practise self-censorship in in the private broadcasting and print media.
It is at times difficult to draw a line between self-censorship and the editorial
slant. Some are of the opinion that self-censorship takes place once the limits
of the editorial line have been breached. For others, the editorial policy is an
ideological orientation whereas self-censorship is phenomenon of power
between the State and an individual (including the risk of imprisonment). For
example; during the 2013 elections, certain call-in shows were suspended.
The Express de Madagascar tries to limit self-censorship thanks to the
application of a very precise editorial line.
