There are indeed various professional associations, which defend the interests of journalists in rather effective ways. A few can be mentioned: The National Association of Congolese Editors (ANECO - employers), the National Association of Private Audiovisual Companies (employers), the Congolese National Press Union (UNPC), Union of Congolese Women in the Media (UCOFEM), the National Association of Portfolio Companies (ANEP – public sector), the National Union of Media Professionals (SNPP).
