All media fairly relect the voices of both women
and men.
here is generally no discrimination against women in the media because the
concerns of women are also taken into account in the processing of information.
he agenda of development partners has also been helpful in positively impacting
this state of afairs e.g. activities that have to do with the MDGs and more
speciically issues of microinance and gender. here was, however, a consensus on
the fact that women speak out on issues depending on the relative importance of
the speciic theme being handled.
No matter the type of media under consideration, it can be observed that the levels
of illiteracy of women on one hand, the type of media on the other, and for cultural
reasons the voices of women are still under represented in the media. Women are
certainly reluctant to express their views on certain topics.

All media fairly relect the voices of society in
its ethnic, linguistic, religious, political and social
diversity.
he initial response to this question is No. In the case of Benin, which is a country
with about a hundred ethnic groups, it is diicult to ensure diversity and the rights
of minority groups are sometimes trampled upon. It can be noted however, that
the voices of major language groups are relected in broadcasting in Cotonou and
speciically with the ORTB due to its mission as a public service organization.
here are up to 15 languages spoken on the rural radio stations and this has
reduced the pressure on ORTB that is swarmed with a lot of requests from the
public.
