Websites and blogs are not required to register
with, or obtain permission, from state authorities.
Several websites and blogs are created and maintained by ordinary citizens, wellknown personalities as well as recognized structures without any prior formalities.
Most of them use resources made available on the internet by large servers such as
Google and Yahoo or by service providers through e-trading. The most significant
costs relate to web accessibility and browsing time. In Benin, an hour of internet
browsing costs 500 CFA francs on average.
Apart from free automatic websites and blogs obtained directly on the internet,
several organisations and political personalities call on the services of specialized
communications companies or internet service providers. Internet connection
costs and conditions vary from one facility to the other. From one hundred
thousand CFA francs for a simple one-page presentation of an NGO, website
development up to five million CFA francs and more
