The state/public broadcaster is technically
accessible in the entire country.
The state broadcaster is currently working on expanding its coverage nationwide
but is confronted with problems relating to the unavailability of electricity in some
localities. There is a slight improvement compared to the situation in 2007. As
most of the new relay stations are currently being tested or under construction, it
is almost impossible to determine if the 100% nationwide coverage objective has
actually been reached.
The national television has since this year 2009 been accessible via satellite. This
provides the opportunity for Beninese residing abroad who have satellite access
to follow national events. However, this ambition is restricted given the fact that
most satellite packages do not include the national television channel. Private
television stations such as Canal3 or LC2 are more accessible abroad in hotels
within the West African region.

The state/public broadcaster offers diverse
programming formats for all interests.
Efforts continue to be deployed by the national radio to offer diverse programming
formats for all interests. The national television is however increasingly developing
only one line of thought. The diverse and public debates have been replaced by
programmes that often serve to vehicle the viewpoint of the government or that
of political groups supporting the ruling party.
