Regulating provisions, responsible for outlining the way a community associative
radio station should be financed, state that “neither gift, nor goods, nor tribute in
liquidity from of a political party should be accepted; it should make public its
tarifs and keep regular record of its accounts it must pay the dues and taxes to
wich it is bond.
In practice, community radio stations operate just like their commercial
counterparts. They are active in the advertising market and therefore pose a threat
to commercial operators.
Community radio stations receive a subsidy from the State, as does other private
radios. The amount of this subsidy has not changed since 1996, although the
number of media bodies has increased tremendously. Therefore, the amount
received by each beneficiary is effectively reduced year after year.
