Review of laws inimical to the freedom of expression (and the press): There is urgent need to review laws inimical to the freedom of expression and access to information, including the Cyber security and Cyber Crimes Act. This is important as it will allow media practitioners to fully perform their watchdog role without fear of various discretionary and suppressive laws that are the proverbial ‘sword of Damocles’ hanging over their heads. The review of laws inimical to the freedom of expression is long overdue as several studies, reports and hearings have been undertaken, sometimes with the full support of government. 38
