Although the panellists argue that there aren’t any discriminatory practices, they admit that press institutions have no policy that proactively promotes equality of opportunity in the newsroom. Skills are often set aside for the benefit of political and ethno-religious affiliations in recruitment and promotion. Usually, women must do more to have the same opportunities as men. In the words of a panellist, “they must do an outstanding job.” The number of persons with disabilities in the newsroom is insignificant. There are only one or two persons with disabilities who are anchors in the public media.
