Panelists were divided on this issue. Some felt that there is no local content which might be described as creative and offering variety. Others said there were at least some commendable initiatives, among them the regional journal on TVT which provides information on what is happening in places away from the centre. Radio Lomé offers news in two local languages. However, it broadcasts the same programme nationwide and there are no magazines or documentaries on radio that deal with local issues. National TV sends out regional teams all over the country to cover events and produce programmes, but the lack of resources does not allow them to do on-site and on-time editing. As a result events will be covered on air only 2 to 3 days later. The only exception are visits of the President of the Republic anywhere in the country: the head of state has his own dedicated media contingent with all the necessary logistics.
