During the November Session of Parliament, the MPs raised questions about the non-broadcast of the handing over ceremony of the administration of the disputed Bakassi Peninsular from Nigeria to Cameroon on August 14th 2008. ANALYSIS: Although political news dominates on CRTV, no other media outfit takes care of the interests of minorities like it does. When it was realised that children in the northern regions were not performing well at official examinations, a special radio programme titled; “key to success” was created. The programme is always broadcast a few weeks before the official examinations and offers teachers and even examiners the opportunity to explain the syllabus and help answer past questions. The candidates usually have the opportunity to call-in and ask for clarification in some areas. There are programmes on CRTV for Moslems and the other Christian denominations (Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist and Adventist). The police, the army and the various government ministries equally have air time. Presently, efforts are being made to make sure that journalists who head the communication units in the ministries do not use the air time provided to them on radio as propaganda slots for the heads of their various ministries.
