Section 180 of the Penal Code criminalises defamation which is defined as any matter likely to injure the reputation of any person by
exposing him/her to hatred, contempt and ridicule.
The Police Statute 1994, empowers the Inspector General of Police
to restrict people from exercising their right of freedom of expression and assembly as a group.
