SECTOR 3

3.7 The state/public broadcaster offers diverse programming formats for all interests including local content and quality public interest programmes.
Programming provided by the public broadcaster takes into account the interests
of various parties, including local content and public interest programmes, but the
lack of resources prevents them from putting their programmes into operation.
The societal national television show L’Bala’, for instance, is very interesting but
the glaring lack of resources prevents it from reaching its goals.
In other parts of the country, the public broadcaster has shown a real desire to
ensure varied, good quality productions of public interest, but the financial means
are lacking.
In spite of these hindrances, the panel acknowledges that there educational
programmes that the public enjoys. A programme called “danses de chez nous”
(our own dances) which focuses on local culture, is popular throughout the
country.
TVT is certainly the channel watched by most of the population as it is the
most accessible (no studies have as yet been carried out in this area). But TVT’s
equipment is faulty.
