1.12 Media legislation evolves from meaningful consultations among state institutions, citizens and interest groups.
Consultations are not set. The laws in place date back to the 1990s and
interest groups and citizens are not consulted when new laws are put in place.
Only journalists are consulted in this matter, notably during the nine regional
workshops and the national sectorial workshop organised by the United Nations
Development Fund (UNDP). The final document of this process has in fact, been
submitted for adoption at the national conference. The outcome is still pending.
