Civil society also needs to be sensitised about the broader importance of the impact of media freedom on society in general. A starting point would be the five media-related bills, which have still not been passed, and a thorough analysis of the 32 laws that restrict the operations of the media. This could be a combined effort of skills from MISA Swaziland, Lawyers for Human Rights of Swaziland, the Council of Swaziland Churches, the Swaziland Coalition of Concerned Civic Organisations (SCCCO) and the University of Swaziland. Resuscitate and strengthen media associations, such as SNAJ, MWASA and the Press Club. Impress upon members of the media the importance of uniting to improve the media environment. • • MISA Swaziland could initiate this.
