MISA-Swaziland was noted for rallying media practitioners around issues
that impact directly on the media fraternity in general and for assisting with
the establishment of the self-regulatory and independent Media Complaints
Commission in particular.
However, “The MCC is like a child without parents to nurse it. It is not enough
that MISA provides it space to operate; it needs the media houses to own it but
they have distanced themselves from it.”
“One day, very soon the media will be in trouble, because the government doesn’t
like to have an independent media. If the media does not get its house in order, in
terms of self-regulation, I foresee the government will set up a statutory version.”
