SECTOR 1 Tertiary training is provided at the training institute of the University of Conakry and in private universities by teaching staff who are not well qualified themselves. Civil society is doing a better job at defending the media than media professionals themselves. Private broadcasters have formed an association (Union des Radios et Télévisions Libres de Guinée URTELGUI), as have publishers (AGEPI) and journalists (AJG, OGUIDEM and AGUIPEL). There is no trade union yet in the private sector. Public sector journalists are grouped in two formations: the RTG trade union and the trade union of the Ministry of Communication, which is affiliated to the powerful National Confederation of Guinean Workers (Confédération Nationale des travailleurs de Guinée, CNTG).
