Journalists and media have integrity and are
not corrupt.
Some panelists called into question the integrity of journalists, citing the example
of the events of 28 September 200914, and doubted that journalists had the courage
to report adequately on stories like this. There is also suspicion of corruption, even
if it is not always easy to prove. On the whole, panelists agreed that what is clearly
obvious is the presence among professionals of “black sheep” hired to settle scores
with political adversaries in their newspapers in return for money.

14 Political parties and civil society organisations had organised a meeting in a stadium to demonstrate
against the military junta. But the demonstration turned into a blood bath when President Moussa Dadis
Camara’s military junta took violent action against the demonstrators. The media did not cover the events
appropriately.
