The editorial independence of the state/public
broadcaster from political influence is guaranteed by
law and practised.
As mentioned earlier, panellists noted that the TBC editorial charter was not
known to the public. As such, it was unclear whether the charter stipulated how
editorial independence should be maintained. A panellist noted that it was possible
for the minister responsible for information to make orders that interfered with
editorial decisions.
