Entry into and practice of the journalistic profession is
unrestricted.

ANALYSIS:
There is no law restricting the entry into and practice of journalism in Swaziland. However, the Media Commission Draft Bill 2007
introduced by the Ministry of Public Service and Information gives
powers to the Commission to introduce compulsory registration and
accreditation of journalists and media institutions.
The media has categorically rejected the draft bill and is fast-tracking the establishment of a self-regulatory mechanism to thwart government attempts to impose these restrictions on the practice of
journalism.

ANALYSIS:
There is no law protecting confidential sources of information. Journalists subpoenaed to appear in court can be forced to disclose
their sources. If they refuse to do so they risk being found guilty of
