2.4 Transparency of ownership of media houses in
print/broadcasting is guaranteed by law and
enforced
The transparency of the ownership of media companies is not guaranteed by law,
but it is possible to know ownership as it is public information. This information
can be found at the Companies’ Registrar. At times, this information cannot be
accessed on technical grounds rather than for political reasons.
In the broadcasting sector, it is difficult to know the real owners of media
companies as the owners may use ‘fronts’ to obfuscate ownership.
