3.11 The state/public broadcaster offers as much diverse and creative local content as economically
achievable.
In its editorial policy, the UBC strives to produce 60 per cent of its programming,
panellists said. During prime-time broadcasts, UBC has more locally produced
programmes than commercial stations. “There are a lot of local music
programmes, some local drama programmes, local sports, and a lot of agricultural
programmes.” However, programmes tend to be repeated frequently.
“If I was a farmer I would enjoy some of these programmes. Creativity is defined
by who is watching.” The UBC makes an effort to cover different parts of the
country in its programming.
