cities across the SADC region, who will be trained to support journalists who need immediate assistance in respect of moral support, visits to journalists in prison, ensuring legal representation for journalists, moral and where necessary material support to journalists and their families, interventions with relevant authorities, protest activities, campaigns in support of journalists, and providing regularly updated information about the journalist. The core group was also asked to explore an additional system of classification for action alerts, which will classify some alerts as high priority status - to indicate that supportive action is essential. This would also be the signal for support groups to go into action. The resources needed for all of the above were explored.
