RESEARCH CONCLUSION
ATI by the public in Tanzania is still constrained despite advancements in technology. The Media Service Act of
2016 and other laws restricting ATI are yet to be repealed, along with other laws such as the National Security Act
of 1970 and the Civil Service Act of 1989. Unnecessary bureaucracy is the most common hindrance to ATI from the
government and its institutions.
Researchers had to go through long channels to get information. This poses a significant issue for journalists, who
often need timely information to meet tight deadlines. To obtain information from the government, they must write
a letter to a permanent secretary in a ministry, even though all these offices have information officers on their
payrolls.
