4.10 Journalists and other media practitioners
are organised in trade unions and/or professional
associations.
There are approximately 50 associations and professional networks among which
the majority are members of the Media House. There is no trade union exclusively
for journalists, but there are trade unions that targets the public media sector
and gather journalists, filmmakers, printers and so on within its structure. These
include the National Union of Information, Press and Paper Industry (NUIPP)
which is barely visible.
A journalists’ trade union could have been established around the time of the
signing of approval of the collective convention on the media. However, due to
conflicting interests, this did not materialise.
There are several associations within the media sector, but they are commonly
plagued by internal conflicts, which annihilate their actions and synergies.
