SECTOR 3 3.3 The body regulates broadcasting services and licenses in the public interest and ensures fairness and a diversity of views broadly representing society at large. The Ministry of Communication is in charge of all aspects of media regulation. It has appointed a technical committee to evaluate applications to operate radio and television stations, and advises the Ministry on the issuance of broadcast licences. Even though the Communication Council is consulted, its role is only advisory. Members of the technical committee are senior state officials from a number of government departments. The board of directors of the state-owned Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV) is appointed by the Head of State. For many years now, the board has been chaired by the Minister of Communication.
