Kenyan’s have lived through more difficult times. In the past, it was illegal to buy a
fax machine. Foreign broadcasters were allowed to broadcast for only about two
hours a day and you could go to jail for circulating or buying certain magazines.
But that was then. A wide variety of media sources, including print, audiovisual
and electronic, are now freely and widely available to Kenyans across the country.
Cable television beams a wide range of foreign channels, while the internet is
stepping up how people get news and information.
