Panellists thought such huge amounts were in a way deterring Cameroonians from venturing into the sector. It was also noted that
sometimes some individuals decide to ignore the law. In 2002,
two stations were closed in Bamenda in the North Western region
of Cameroon and when the proprietors contacted the Minister in
charge, the latter did not seem to be aware of what had happened.
The panellists noted that the problem with Cameroonian laws arises
when it is said that the implementation will be determined by a
subsequent text.
