Only a few media pressure groups exist in Côte d’Ivoire – among the most important is the GEPCI (Association of Newspaper Publishers of Côte d’Ivoire). Usually, they support legal cases involving the media but the panel reckons that it is premature to speak of ‘synergy’. With regards to civil society, it supports the cause of freedom of the press – conscious of the defense of its own interest – but it still hesitates to position itself in a proactive manner, which at times, turns to indifference. The members of the panel thus strive towards greater synergy between civil society, pressure groups and victims of the media.
