Radio and television coverage (which operate on the same type of transmitters) stood at 80% before the politicial crisis in 2011, notably due to relay transmitters, to be found in all provinces. Unfortunately, numerous power pylons were damaged during the crisis, bringing coverage down to 49%. In Feburary 2012, the State launched a large programme of national rehabilitation. It will, however, take a certain time before optimale coverage will be reached again in Côte d’Ivoire.
