The state/public broadcaster offers diverse
programming formats for all interests.
According to the panel, the exceptionally high number of satellite dishes is the
most persuasive evidence of the public’s discontent with programmes proposed by
the public broadcaster.
Regarding political issues, the public broadcaster displays a monolithic image; a
reflection of the ruling party. This has earned it certain names that speak volumes
about the esteem of citizens: “The Orphan”, “The Unique”, “The Compulsory” or
“The Zero”.
Despite the fact that a multi-party system is enshrined in the Constitution, radio
and television stations do not broadcast discussions and debates to reflect this
pluralism except during a very short period in the early 90s.
Moreover, certain minorities feel marginalized by public broadcasters because
there are no programmes that are tailored to their needs.
