The Information Act is ambiguous concerning the editorial independence of the public broadcaster. On the one hand, it gives the government a free hand to schedule and broadcast, at will, its print, oral or televised declarations and communications and on the other hand, it restricts this right by attaching the condition that it does not encroach upon the freedom of the editorial staff (Article 9). Article 10 of Act 90-07 stipulates that public sector media outlets must under no circumstance be influenced or accept consideration that may compromise the accuracy of the information. The legislation emphasizes that the public media shall provide equal opportunity for the expression of various opinions and thoughts. Unfortunately, this law is not applied.
