SECTOR 4 Whatever the case, one of the consequences of this breach of equality with respect to employment is that the career plans of journalists are heavily dependent on political vagaries. Moreover, incompetence is rewarded to the detriment of professional competence and performance and this causes serious legitimacy crises. That is why, in the view of several panellists, management positions in the public media should be open to competition through calls for applications or through competitive examinations.
