The group mobilized itself and managed to raise about K2 000 to buy cleaning materials27. 5.0 CONCLUSION It is worth noting that the media in Zambia continues operating under an environment where media freedom is not improving. From events which took place during the quarter under review, threats, censorship and increased legislation which fights divergent views is indicative of the continued suffocation of press freedom. Journalists‟ safety in this quarter was under threat following the arrest of a media practitioner when undertaking his duty. Lastly, the fact that the discussions to engage government on the progress made with regard to the enactment of the Access to Information (ATI) bill died in the quarter should be a wakeup call to the media and media advocates to strongly engage government on the issue. 6.0 RECOMMENDATIONS Following what transpired in the third quarter, the following are the recommendations. MISA Zambia and media advocates should continue to engage government on the ATI; Cyber security bills should be reviewed before they are enacted; MISA Zambia, the media and other stakeholders should engage government to rescind its decision on proceeding the enactment of the 30 Ngwee tax on internet calls and Lastly, MISA Zambia should engage the Zambia Police on issues bordering the safety of journalists. 27 Times of Zambia – WhatsApp group clean Choma – 10th August, 2018 21
